Robert has transitioned home to take his place amongst family that have journeyed home before him. His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 2:00 pm

Bobby attended public school in the Screven County (Sylvania, GA) and Volusia County (Daytona Beach, FL) School Systems. Bobby opted out of high school in the 10^th grade joining the U.S. Army. He earned his high school equivalency while serving. Robert was born in Sylvania, GA to the late Capus and Elnora (Knight) Ponder, they called him “Bobby.” He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ethel Mae (Ponder) For and Catherine (Ponder) Kelly his brothers Willie Knight, Capus Jr., Benjamin, Cyler, Wilbert and Jimmie Ponder.

Bobby was the sixth of Capus and Elnora’s eleven children. He had a big ole heart which may have gone unnoticed because he was also a prankster. A gifted Artist all of his life, he focused his skills and talents on painting. Whether it was commercial, new construction or residential re-paints he was a man to see in Daytona Beach. An avid fisherman he consistently provided his mom and other family members with a bounty of fish.

Robert is survived by 2 of 3 former spouses, Clayzell (Jenkins) Ponder-Bartley, Rosette Ponder and Angelyne Ponder (Dec’d); eleven children, Robert, Jr. (Georgianna), Regena (Shuan), Ronald (Theresa), Rosetta, Richard, Russell, Angelyne, Ryan, Robyn (Mario Figueroa), Raquel and Rachell. Nineteen grandchildren, Rhianna, Victoria, Ronald, Jr., Robert III, Khalel, Roneasha, DeAngelo, Jenny, Alayisha Ishon Williams, Richard, Jr., Ra’miyah, Tyrajuh Jackson, Jasmire, Nicholas, Percy, Aryana-Marie, Ryan-Marie, Markell and JeNasia’ Rose Figuerora. Three of his 10 brothers; Aleem (Patricia Kelly) Ponder-Fakir, Dave (Sharon Shelton) Ponder, Gregory(Shirley Gentile) Stokes and four of his 7 sisters; Bettye (Marvin) Ponder-Weems, Mary (Ponder) Reid, Frances (Bishop Curtis) Stokes-Larry, and Earnestine (Pete) Stokes-Townsend.
