“Daddy Jim was bought into the “New World” at Ridge Mountain, North Carolina by way of a slave ship. He was purchased in Charleston, South Carolina by Seaborn Augustus Jones, the owner of the Millhaven Plantation. Daddy Jim was placed on the portion of the plantation in Screven County Georgia. The Millhaven Plantation is the largest one-piece plantation in existence in the southeast.
Millhaven, Georgia has since been incorporated as a subdivision of Sylvania (Screven County), GA. Sylvania, GA rests on the Georgia-South Carolina Border and is the actual midpoint between Augusta, Georgia and Savannah, Georgia.”
Below are some of the structures remaining on the Mill Haven Plantation today
Sylvania, Georgia
Eddie, and Pearl (Oliver) Knights, 4th and 5th adults below, going left to right, family was established and existed in Sylvania, Georgia from Daddy Jim, his grand father, to his youngest child Annie Lee (in white dress) who still live there today; Elnora (in blue dress) was born and raised there.
Also pictured first, still going left to right, is Geraldine, Annie Lee’s daughter. The 3rd is Wilbert, Elnora’s son and lastly is Mary Lou, Elnora’s first cousin. Eddie and Pearl lived their entire life in Sylvania.
Elnora, upon marrying Capus, relocated from Sylvania to Hilltonia Town, Screven County to raise their family. A 1940 US Census Report shows Elnora and Capus married and living together in Hilltonia Town with Willie (age 6), Joseph (age 4), Catherine (age 2) and Capus, Jr. (age 1).
Sometime during the year 1956 Elnora and Capus moved their family to Florida.
Daytona Beach, Florida
Elnora’s new home will see her life change immensely with her children growing into adults, leaving home and planting their seeds and dreams in other parts of the country. However, Daytona Beach was, and remain today the family’s hub. Most of Elnora’s children and other descendants planted there seeds in Daytona; raising their families there:
